IMPORTANT UPDATE

Jun 13 - Feb 28

The Pickering Town Centre Farmers' Market is now the City Centre Farmers' Market.

Pickering Town Centre and The City of Pickering jointly announce that after five years of hosting the popular Farmers’ Market, Pickering Town Centre will hand over the Market’s operation to the City of Pickering with whom it has partnered since the Market opened in 2011.

Beginning this season, the Market will be located across the street from Pickering Town Centre, adjacent to City Hall. The hours have been adjusted to 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., in keeping with recommendations from the Farmers’ Market Advisory Group.

Under the City’s direction, efforts will continue to offer a good cross section of products, giving precedence to local grown, in order to ensure the ongoing integrity and success of the Market. As in previous years, the City will be opening up market applications for vendors based on the same guidelines. In addition, the Farmers’ Market will continue to support St. Paul’s-on-the-Hill Community Food Bank. Pickering Town Centre will also maintain donations bins for the Food Bank throughout the mall during the Market.

CANADA 150 CONTEST - CALL FOR ARTISTS

Jan 31 - Feb 28

CALL FOR ARTIST ENTRY

Canada 150 Artist Installation

In celebration of Canada 150, Pickering Town Centre and other 20VIC managed properties are inviting local Canadian artists to create one-of-a-kind installations that will be featured in various malls across the country. These installations will celebrate our country’s 150th birthday and are to be reflective of Canada’s past, present and/or future.

Pickering Town Centre is looking for a local artist from Pickering’s creative community to create a significant installation which will be on display at Pickering Town Centre for two months leading up to Canada Day celebrations. The installation will serve as a focal point and Canada 150 landmark in Pickering Town Centre as well as a photo backdrop for a Canada 150 “selfie” contest.  Shoppers will be invited to take a photo with the installation, post it to their personal social channels and use the hash tag for a chance to win weekly prizes and be entered to win a grand prize that will consist of a trip for two to a designated city in Canada.

Keeping in mind the overall theme of Canada’s past, present and/or future, the artist will design and create a unique piece in the artist’s medium of choice. The installation should occupy a 10’ x 10’ space at minimum, to a maximum of 20’ x 20’ and a maximum height of 10’, and visibly communicate the theme. All installations across Canada will be unveiled on May 1, 2017 and will remain on display in each respective shopping centre until July 2017. The successful candidate will be notified by March 8, 2017.

The selected artist will receive the following:

  • An honorarium of $2,500 for the artist’s design
  • In-mall promotion of installation and display in high traffic area for two months at Pickering Town Centre
  • Promotion across Pickering Town Centre’s social, digital, mobile channels + E-newsletter database
  • PR support and promotion for the Canada 150 Artist Installation, the artist and the “selfie” contest
  • Pickering Town Centre will own the completed artwork

To apply for 20VIC Management Inc.’s Canada 150 Artist Installation at Pickering Town Centre, artists must submit their complete application by Tuesday, February 28 at 5PM local time to lmurphy@20vic.com.  Artists should include the following in their application submission:

  • Project summary about the proposed installation (1-page maximum)
  • A rendering or mockup of the proposed design
  • Artist CV and Bio
  • Portfolio of works (in PDF format)
  • Website link (if applicable)

A jury panel will review all applications and the successful artist will be contacted directly.
